Students will learn about the mechanics of firearms, safety, and proper etiquette before making field trips to a local range to practice marksmanship with trained instructors. There will be range and ammunition fees, covered with the class supplies fee. However, there may be an additional amount due to the instructor depending on the types of firearms used at the range. Students may want to invest in their own ear and eye protection, although extras are always available and required for the range. Students must be 100% able to listen and practice all safety rules. No exceptions. If a student does not follow rules even one time, he or she will be dismissed from the class and not allowed to return for the rest of the semester.
In addition to marksmanship, students will learn about the sport of Biathlon. They will practice cross country skiing as part of the class.
Please note that on days when students visit the range, they will not return until 2:30 to 2:45.
Students must sign up for the day or programming prior to selecting classes.
